Creswell Mayor Dave Stram conducted a ceremonial transfer of ownership of the Old Schoolhouse, located at 195 S. 2nd St., last Thursday to the Creswell Heritage Foundation. The Creswell Bakery provided cupcakes for the event as CHF President Verlean McCoy accepted the deed for the historic building.
CHF is in the second year of a five-year plan to restore the schoolhouse as the oldest public building in Creswell. CHF’s intent is to develop an ongoing use for the building after restoration so it will become a community resource and preserve the building’s historic significance.
