Amber Lynn Bell, 42, of Springfield, Ore. passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2021. She was born on Oct. 25, 1979 in Provo, Utah to parents Craig and Sandy Ostler.
She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, and then from Brigham Young University with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. For 12 years she enjoyed what she loved, which was teaching and being around elementary school children. A natural teacher and musician, she also taught piano and violin during this time.
In 2011, she met her husband, Eric Bell, via an online dating website that a friend had set up for her. At that time, she lived in Utah, and he lived in Oregon. They corresponded and dated for a little over a year before being married and sealed in the Mount Timpanogos, Utah Temple on Dec. 29, 2012. Together with Lauren and Natalie they made their home in Oregon.
Amber was a lifelong and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She faithfully served the Lord and many others in its organizations. One of Amber’s greatest strengths was her friendly disposition and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She always took people for how they were and made them feel loved and welcomed whatever their circumstances. She did this especially through her love of flowers and gardening. She loved to grow flowers and randomly gave bouquets to those she felt needed a bright spot in their day.
Amber is survived by her husband, Eric Bell; her children Lauren, Natalie, and Tess Bell; grandmother, Gloria Green Ostler, parents Craig and Sandy Ostler; and siblings James Ostler, Kristin Price, Shawn Ostler, Heather Patterson, Derek Ostler and Daniel Ostler. She is also survived by loving in-laws and other family members too numerous to list.
A viewing was to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1155 President St., Eugene, OR 97401, with the funeral to follow.
The family sincerely thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff for their love, compassion, and assistance during Amber’s journey battling cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Inheritance of Hope (inheritanceofhope.org) and Camp Kesem (kesem.org); two organizations which help children who have parents fighting cancer and who have helped our family.
