Larry Eugene Mell: April 15, 1949 – Dec. 1, 2021

“There are no goodbyes, wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in my heart”

Larry Eugene Mell, 72, of Yoncalla, Ore., passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 1, 2021.  

Larry was born on April 15, 1949 in Rush City, Minn., to parents Wilfred C. Mell and Jean (Bush) Mell. After high school Larry was called to serve his country in the Navy during Vietnam where he served as a medic. 

He was known for his smile and positive attitude, always inspiring us to keep going. He loved to oil paint, fish and loved the ocean. Larry was a handyman who loved helping people in the community and made many friends. His passion was working on his farm with his animals and dogs, but what meant the most to him was spending time with his family, caring and guiding them.

He is survived by his daughter Leana (Steve) Thomas of Thousand Oaks, Calif., daughter Annabelle (Felipe) Perez of Bakersfield, Calif., son Christian (Melissa) Mell of Bakersfield, Calif., daughter Ana (Scott) Mell, son Omar (Shannon) Mell, Daughter Gena (Miguel) Lopez, son Willee (Nicole) Mell, son Mario Perales, brother Dale G. Mell of Fresno, Calif., 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Wilfred C. Mell and Jean (Bush) Mell and brother Dean Mell of Fresno, Calif..

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral and Chapel.
