Obituaries & Tributes

René Cook: Oct. 14, 1958 – Oct. 30, 2021

René answered heaven’s call and is now walking alongside the angels. Her memory will continue to beat in our hearts as we mourn the loss of her battle with cancer.

René Michelle Cook went home to the Lord on the evening of Oct. 30, 2021. She was born Oct. 14, 1958 to Richard and Diane (Vogt) Lasslett in Garden City, Mich. She was an active member at RiverSide Church of God and Calvary Chapel in Cottage Grove. She loved spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren, cooking and baking, aerobics classes, sewing, crafting, renovating, playing bingo, gardening, boating and going to Oregon Duck football games. René is survived by James Cook, her children; Stephen Markman, Taylor cook and Amanda Borrelli; her sisters Jeanine Toney and Dawn Garcia; her brother Ricky Lasslett; three grandchildren, Brynlee, Ryder, Mila and Elijah, who is on the way.

We know that René touched the lives of many. She was always laughing, smiling and joking around. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and those around her fiercely and unconditionally. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A life celebration was held Nov. 6. In remembrance of René, guests were asked to come dressed in warm and bright colors as she was such a bright light in our lives. Nothing can prepare you for the death of a loved one but we will forever cherish our memories with her as well as all the love she showered upon us daily.
