Two pull knife on baby, mom at AM/PM and man arrested on child sex charges

Two individuals were arrested in Creswell early Saturday morning, March 10 after they threatened a mother and her baby with a knife inside the AM/PM.
According to Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Sergeant Scott Denham, Michael Warrant Thomas and Plum Blossom Buckingham had been drinking at TJ’s Restaurant & Sports Bar and then went to AM/PM to buy more alcohol.
A baby, who was with its mother, was crying and Thomas and Buckingham came up to the mother and child and threatened them with a knife, Denham said.
The father allegedly came into the store and confronted both Thomas and Buckingham, who left the store and began walking down Oregon Avenue, Denham said.
Lane County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Bastinelli arrived on the scene and held the two individuals at gunpoint until reinforcements arrived, Denham said.
Thomas, 49, was arrested on charges of Theft 3 (Misdemeanor); 3 counts of Menacing 1 (Misdemeanor); Unlawful Use of Weapon (Felony); Carrying Concealed/Possession Knife (Misdemeanor); and a Eugene warrant.
Buckingham, 43, was arrested on charges of Menacing (Misdemeanor) and Unlawful Use of Weapon (Felony).
In other Creswell crime news, a Creswell man was arrested and charged with child sex crimes on Thursday, March 8 and was booked into Lane County Jail, LCSO reports.
Dustin Lee Stephens, 31, was arrested on suspicion of the crimes: 1. Display Child Sexual Conduct (Felony); 2. Encourage Child Sex Abuse First Degree (Felony); 3. Sexual Penetration First Degree (Felony); 4. Rape Second Degree (Felony); 5. Rape Second Degree (Felony); 6. Sex Abuse First Degree (Felony).
Stephens is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
