Henry ‘Hank’ Carlisle Sandefur: May 2, 1948 – Oct. 26, 2021

Our beloved father, brother, uncle and friend Henry Sandefur passed away after a long illness mainly contributed to exposure to Agent Orange. We hold you in our hearts and will miss your quick wit and tender soul.

Henry was born in Eugene, Ore., on May 2, 1948 and died on Oct. 26, 2021 at age 73 in Cottage Grove, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents Bryson and Doris (Elliott) Sandefur and brothers Bill and Duane Sandefur.

He was the youngest of six children and is survived by his sisters Nelda (Tom) Bridges, Barbara Sandefur-Diezi and Sandra (Noel) Smarr, children Nicholas Sandefur, Serena (Marcus) Hatfield, adopted son Alan, stepson Darron Houck, nephews Mike and Darren Bridges, nieces Joni Bridges, Jessica Carr and Shannah Nichols, Tammy, Todd, Matt Diezi and many grand and great-grandchildren.

After graduating in 1966 from Cottage Grove High School, Hank joined the U.S. Army and spent most of his time in Thailand with the Joint U.S. Military Advisory Group (JUSMAGTHAI). After being honorably discharged in 1969 he returned to work and school in the Cottage Grove/Eugene area for the rest of his life.

A private family celebration of his life will take place at a later time.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to the caring staff at Middlefield Oaks for their continued love and compassion. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
