CRESWELL – Jennifer Gardiepy, longtime Creswell resident and administrative assistant for the City of Creswell, passed away unexpectedly, the City of Creswell announced on Oct. 6.
Jennifer worked for the City for 10 years and was often the first person visitors would be greeted by at City Hall. She was a wife, mother and a dear friend to many.
“She was really the face of what Creswell as a community represents: friendly, caring, and had the warmest of greetings to anyone she saw,” said Leslie Scovil-Reece, community member.
“She had the unique ability to do her job effectively and make you feel like a friend,” said community member Joni Mogstad.
Community member Lindsey Williams said her encounters with Jennifer at City Hall over the years were pleasant, and she appreciated how helpful Jennifer was. “She was always so pleasant and helpful with any issue I had,” Williams said. “She truly was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.”
“She had a way of making every person feel valued and cared for,” added Judy Hensel, community member.
Theresa Fetters opted to pay her bills in-person rather than online just so she could visit with Jennifer each mont. Fetters said she is heartbroken by the news of Jennifer’s passing.
“I loved Jennifer,” Fetters said. “I always looked forward to her smile and our talks … she was genuine and one-of-a-kind.”
Kevin Prociw, acting mayor and council president, at Monday’s city council meeting said that “Her presence is greatly missed and Creswell just won’t be the same.”
Community member Linda Shepherd Warner agrees. “What a wonderful woman taken so soon,” she said.
No details have been announced regarding memorial services.
