Ruth M. Jokinen: April 13, 1935 – Sept. 3, 2021

Ruth M. Jokinen passed quietly on the night of Sept. 3, 2021 from the congestive heart failure she had been battling for a while. Ruth was born at her Grandmother Grover’s home in Maine. She grew up on a farm – the youngest of five – with her brothers Albert and Charlie and her sisters Florence and Ellen. Ruth was the most wonderful mother, wife, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ruth was introduced to David and a long-lasting bond was made. She worked at a shoe factory until she and David married in 1951. They had three children – Peter, Patty and Barbara Ann, four grandchildren – Gus, Fred, Frankie May and Elizabeth, and four great-grandchildren – Angelica, Isabella, Keira and Erik. They lived on Temple Hill in Waterford, Maine, and moved to Oregon in 1967. Ruth loved to read, crocheted hundreds of hats for newborns, volunteered at the school library, Goshen Grange, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and the Sharps & Flats.

Ruth was married to her lifelong love, David, for 65 years when he passed away. To the end, they were still holding hands. like two turtle doves, still and always in love. She is now reunited with the love of her life and will live on in our hearts forever. We love you, Mom!
