James Erwin Levings: May 19, 1937 – June 24, 2021

James Erwin Levings was born in Tacoma, Wash., on May 19, 1937 and passed away in Eugene on June 24, 2021. He lived in Creswell for many decades prior to his death.

Jim started his military career soon after high school by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He was an aeromedical. After honorably serving his tour of duty, he left the Air Force and later rejoined the U.S. Army and became a Green Beret Combat Medic. He served three tours in Vietnam. Because of his brave, selfless service he was awarded three Bronze stars; a Vietnam Service medal; a Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm; Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class; and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1981. He served our country for 21 years and honorably retired. As a civilian, Jim loved motorcycles, hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, softball and skiing.

Jim never married and had no children. He is survived by two brothers, Milt and Frank; good friend and nephew, Mark and wife Ida Levings; 16 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; plus many close friends.
