Vaccinated commuters can ride for free during August with Vaxpass.

Lane Transit District is offering the community a boost with the Vaxpass free bus pass during August for those who are vaccinated against COVID-19. Federal regulations require all passengers and members of the public to continue wearing a face mask over the nose and mouth when on LTD property and on its buses.

“LTD’s August Vaxpass is one way the District can thank community members who are vaccinated and encourage those who aren’t to consider getting vaccinated so Oregonians can continue to keep the spread of COVID-19 at a minimum,” said Aurora Jackson, LTD’s general manager. “We want our passengers back on the bus and invite those who may not have been frequent bus passengers in the past to give LTD a try for shopping, visiting friends, or a relaxing night on the town.”

Community members who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 can go to ltd.org/vaxpass and register for an August Vaxpass benefit code. Mobile app users can redeem their benefit code through the Umo Mobility app or TouchPass app. Tap card users can redeem their benefit code after registering their card at umopass.com.

The Vaxpass provides unlimited rides from Aug. 1-31. Benefit codes redeemed after Aug. 1 will provide a pass valid through August 31. No refunds for passes already purchased.

Passengers using TouchPass for electronic fare payment must transition to Umo Mobility by the end of September 2021. Information about transitioning to Umo is here.

To find vaccination locations in Oregon, text your ZIP code to 438829 or call 1-800-232-0233. Or find out which pharmacies are participating in the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program here.

LTD is maintaining its current service schedule until fall.

Meanwhile, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will join Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR-04), Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, on an infrastructure tour in Oregon to promote the INVEST in America Act and President Biden’s American Jobs Plan this week.

DeFazio and Buttigieg will travel to the Springfield area to highlight the benefits that infrastructure investments provide to the economy, job creation, transportation safety and the fight against climate change. The DeFazio-authored INVEST in America Act will create good-paying jobs to rebuild and reimagine America’s surface transportation and water infrastructure. It helps meet the president’s vision in the American Jobs Plan by investing in American workers and communities of all sizes, while tackling the climate crisis head-on.

It makes historic investments in transit and electric buses to provide better options for riders as well as reduce local air pollution and related health impacts. These investments are paired with strong Buy America requirements and provisions for workforce training to ensure America can compete in the clean energy economy.

The INVEST in America Act also makes our roads safer with a significant funding boost to roadway safety programs, record levels of investment in walking and cycling infrastructure, smarter road design, and safe routes to schools.
