Capturing a lifetime of memories

Bailey Bennett, 2008

Since childhood, Independence Day has always been a family/community kind of day for me and I love it. In Creswell I have been involved with the celebration for many years, in many ways: Serving breakfast in Holt Park, singing on stage in the park after the parade, driving in the parade, riding on a float and taking photos for The Creswell Chronicle are all good memories.

I worked as a graphic designer for The Chronicle with owners Helen Hollyer, Scott Olsen and Noel Nash. Helen liked to have staff photos to complement hers, it was the first time I tried photographing a parade. The 4th of July supplement for the paper was one assignment that was especially satisfying.

Ed Gunderson, 2008

As an assistant to Chamber director Don Amberg for two years I had the honor of designing two collector buttons, hired music for the event and ran the stage, signed folks up for the parade and car shows and a multitude of other tasks. These experiences introduced me to many fine people and I do cherish knowing them all.

It takes a whole village to make this celebration a success. I would like to see more community participation in creating Creswell 4th of July memories again. I have every confidence it will happen.
