Vaccinated residents will soon have access to mask-free areas indoors and other benefits in counties designated as “low risk,” according to public health officials.
Lane County is predicted to remain at high risk levels, Public Health spokesperson Jason Davis said. In order to be eligible for low risk, 65% of the county population 16 and older must have had their first vaccine dose.
LCPH reports as of May 25 that 13,398 people in Lane County have been administered one dose of the vaccination. Davis said Lane County is 63% of the way toward that 65% goal; 7,824 more doses need to be administered.
“This is fantastic in terms of achieving public health outcomes and herd immunity,” he said.
Gov. Kate Brown announced new protocols for Oregon counties moving into low risk that complement OHA’s recent mask guidance.
Davis said Lane County has had 13,398 Covid cases (+25 the past week). As of May 19, Springfield had a total of 4,051 cases, Creswell had 349, Cottage Grove had 460 and Pleasant Hill recorded 89.
