Roberta Mae Chapman: April 27, 1933 – March 15, 2021

Roberta Mae Chapman was born in Mabel, Oregon on April 27, 1933. She grew up in Cottage Grove and later moved to Junction City where she graduated from Junction City High School. Roberta married her high school boyfriend, LeRoy Joseph Chapman, on March 22, 1952 at the Junction City Methodist Church. They had been married for 65 years when Roy passed away. Roberta liked to read, and enjoyed mysteries as well as “whodunits’’ on television. She loved to sing and was an excellent soprano. She often sang solos for special ceremonies. She loved to cook, especially for holidays, and enjoyed gardening. Roy and Roberta bowled, and the entire family bowled in local leagues. They were avid Oregon State Beaver fans. Roberta was surrounded by Oregon Duck fans at her assisted living facility, and was especially happy to celebrate anytime the Beavers beat the Ducks in any sport. Roberta was a member of and held offices in various service organizations, including Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Soroptimists, Eastern Star, and The Moose. She and Roy served as volunteers at the Junction City Scandinavian Festival for many years. She worked at the Junction City U.S Bank, First National Bank, Koford-Chapman Insurance, and AgriPac in Junction City and Eugene. She was the owner and operator of Roberta’s Collectibles in Junction City.

Roberta passed away in Eugene, Oregon on March 15, 2021, Roy’s birthday. She was ready to join him, and he certainly was waiting to welcome her home. She was 86.

Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy J. Chapman. She is survived by her daughter LeAnn and son-in-law Ernie Diaz, son Gary Chapman and daugher-in-law Toni; grandson Nick Chapman and wife Mandy, grandson Adam Chapman, granddaughter Jamie Diaz, and 3 great-grandchildren, Katie, Liam, and Joshua.

In respect for Roberta’s wishes and due to health restrictions, there will not be a memorial gathering. For those who wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider the Junction City Moose, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
