Janie Polen: July 7, 1944 – Feb. 26, 2021

Janie M. Anderson Polen, of Springfield, Ore., 76, was called home to be with our Lord on Feb. 26, 2021.

Janie was born to Sam and Louise Anderson on July 7, 1944 in Carroll, Iowa. The middle child of five, Janie lived the first part of her childhood in Carroll. Sam and Louise moved their five kids out in a school bus to Vancouver, Wash.

During high school Janie met the love of her life, Larry Polen. The homecoming queen and her prince married out of high school and started their family. Janie was a natural as a loving homemaker and mother.

Larry’s profession had the family moving several times before settling in the Eugene/Springfield area. After raising four kids and spending quality family time, Janie and Larry were able to travel the world, shopping included.

Janie’s retirement included never missing the events of her 12 grandchildren. We will always miss the never-ending songs Janie would sing and the light she brought to our lives.

Janie is preceded in death by her prince and love of 50 years, Larry Polen. Janie is survived by her son Scott (Lara), her three daughters, Susie (Don) Churnside, Mary Jane Wilson and Wendy Polen-Rupp, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her new puppy, Archie.

Janie was celebrated on Friday, March 12 at Saint Alice Catholic Church, 1520 E St. in Springfield. The reception followed.
