Linda Ann Wittorff (Clouette), 80, of Springfield, Ore., died on Nov. 30, 2020 at home with her family after a long illness.
Linda was born June 12, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to Jean William and Thelma Eula (Neil) Clouette. She graduated from Rockwall High School in Rockwall, Texas and in 1961 earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Texas A&M-Commerce (then East Texas State University). She taught junior high math in Texas, then California for many years. On July 10, 1965, she married Don Raymond Wittorff. They had three children, David, Sierra and Charlie (Kim). Starting in 1980, Linda spent several decades teaching children how to use a computer at the Rohnerville School District in Fortuna, Calif.
Linda was a social and enthusiastic person who loved to travel. She had a passion for education and was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for over 25 years, serving in various capacities including branch president. Her two-week trip to China as part of the Citizen Ambassador Program was particularly memorable. She talked about meeting Chinese educators, seeing the Terra Cotta soldiers and the Great Wall of China for the rest of her life.
Linda found comfort and community in her Methodist faith and was a longtime member at the Fortuna United Methodist Church in Fortuna, and later at the First United Methodist Church in Eugene. She loved to garden, and always had a smattering of plants and flowers growing around her.
Linda is preceded in death by her brother, Jean Andre, and her parents. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Don of Springfield, her son David of Shepherd, Mont., and his wife Dana (Buell), her daughter Sierra Russell of Springfield, and her fiancé Shawn Thrasher, her daughter Charlie Sequoia of Roanoke, Va., and her wife Mary Zompetti, her four grandchildren Matthew, Alexandria, Neil and Abigail, and her two great-grandchildren.
A memorial is planned for the summer of 2021 at her family home in Springfield once COVID restrictions are lifted. Visit Linda’s Neptune Society webpage to leave a message for the family.
