A look at the general area where SEDA has acquired property in Glenwood.

SPRINGFIELD – At its Jan. 11 meeting, the Springfield Economic Development Agency authorized City Manager Nancy Newton to pursue an agreement to purchase Glenwood property for up to $260,000 from the Albany-based domestic limited liability company, Golden Emerald.

The parcels are two tax lots on N. Brooklyn St. totaling 0.34 acres. The parcels are adjacent to existing SEDA-owned property to the north and east and are zoned as Residential Mixed Use and Commercial Mixed Use.

This completes assembly of the SEDA owned parcels, said Courtney Griesel, the economic development director. The parcels are the remaining lots adjacent to the existing 8.7-acre SEDA-owned site.

SEDA has been in negotiations for this parcel since 2019, but talks were delayed during the first half of 2020.

An environmental assessment indicates no concerns or further investigation is needed.
