Pedestrians take their lives into their hands crossing Oregon Avenue

I am amazed about the lack of painted pedestrian markings at the Oregon Avenue intersections.
I asked the city public works supervisor about this, what I consider a safety problem. His reply was that the concrete slabs took care of needing other markings. Maybe it takes care of satisfying the requirement but it doesn’t fill the need.
In the past month I have been crossing at the intersection in front of City Hall on two occasions when I was nearly struck by a pickup and a sedan. The pickup driver stopped in the middle of the intersection when I hollered at him. The lady in the sedan kept right on going.
I admit I move slow as I use either a walker or a cane now.
Another time a driver as he went by, informed me that the crossing was not marked and to keep the “blankety blank” out of the way.
I know I am not the first person to be in one of the many intersections not protected by painted walkways. But safety is paramount and I believe that we are not protected at Oregon Avenue intersections.
