Alice M. Jones

Alice Mae Jones, 93, of Dexter, Ore. passed away peacefully Dec. 25, 2020. She was born May 1, 1927 to Robert and Valeria Miles in Corsica, Pa.

She married Wallace Jones on June 8, 1943. They were married 50-plus years until he preceded her in death in November 1994. A few years later she married Earl Schnepp of Brookville, Pa. and they split their time between Pennsylvania and Oregon until he passed away in January 2009.

During World War II she worked in the Air Force PX selling candy bars and cigarettes at the Buckingham Air Force Base in Ft. Myers, Fla. Later she worked at Sylvania manufacturing lighting products in Brookville, Pa. For most of her life she worked as a bookkeeper – briefly at a hotel, but for the majority of time for Ford Automotive dealerships in Oregon.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and tending to the various flower gardens that she had created that gave her great joy and satisfaction. She loved the peaceful surroundings of her home.

Her children, Marsha Osborne and Bruce Jones, survive her along with grandchildren Stephanie (Ryan) Franklin, Loralyn (Scott) Spiro, Rachel (Brian) Warner and Christopher (Amanda) Jones in addition to four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Noah, Fenton and Sailor.

A sister, Betty Harriger, and two brothers, Robert and John Miles, preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Jan. 7.
