Eckle James ‘Jim’ Fulk

Eckle James “Jim” Fulk, 86, of Creswell, Oregon passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2020. 

Jim was born on May 2, 1934 to Eckle and LuLu Fulk in Elk Creek, Missouri. Jim attended Cabool High School, and after graduation Jim followed his brother, Grover, to Oregon. Jim married Edna Broadstreet in 1956 and they later divorced. Jim married Carolyn “Kaye” Vanderpool in June 1977 in Reno, Nevada. 

After a short logging career, Jim opened Jim’s Tire Service. The community knew Jim as a businessman who greeted his customers with a smile and a handshake. Jim gave his employees opportunities, including Cottage Grove High School students credits for work experience. 

Jim was a hardworking man with a compassionate heart. He also had a witty sense of humor. Jim was always thinking of others. He spent countless hours volunteering at Magnolia Village in Cottage Grove while regularly visiting his wife, Kaye, and he participated in organized activities with the residents. 

Jim enjoyed traveling and spending time at his cabin hunting and snowmobiling. 

He also enjoyed collecting antique cars, and watching “Jeopardy” nightly with his loyal dog, Bella. Jim was a member of the Cottage Grove First Baptist church. 

He is survived by his daughters Teresa Peters, of Cottage Grove; Sheri Toney and husband Wayne of Salem; Chris Angeli and husband Clay of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Virginia Harbeintner of Creswell; nine grandchildren; Seirra, Emily and John James Peters; Connor (Rachel), Zach (Jessica) and Maranda Toney; Austin (Lindy), Kendall (Liz), Carter McDonald; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Cynthia and Pamela, and nephew Jeff. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Kaye, brother Grover G. Fulk, and son Lyndell James Fulk. There will be a private family graveside held at Creswell Pioneer Cemetery.
