Donna Rae Perini, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away on Nov. 27, 2020 at Oaktree Care Hospice in Eugene as a result of congestive heart failure. She was 86.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1934 in Inavale, Neb. to Harry Kennedy and Helen (Hamilton) Kennedy. Donna graduated from North Bend High School in 1951. She married Frank Perini on Aug. 31, 1951 in Coos Bay, Ore.
Family and friends knew Donna as an excellent cook. She was fondly remembered as the cook at Delight Valley Elementary School in Cottage Grove for 25 years, where she also performed other duties like plant manager, custodian, and educational assistant.
Donna enjoyed quilting for her family and sewing excellent-quality clothes, such as wedding dresses and professional office attire. She was also a volunteer for Sacred Heart Hospital, where she made snugglies for newborn babies.
Donna is survived by husband, Frank Perini, of Eugene; daughter Karen Marone, of Kapa’a Hi.; brothers Richard Peterson of Gaston, Ore. and Dean Peterson of Forest Grove, Ore.; sisters Sherri Wood of Battleground, Wash. and Linda Richardson of Tillamook, Ore.; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanna Perini, of Cottage Grove, on May 8, 1972.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 2.
