David Eugene Overton, 71, of Creswell, Ore. passed away from throat cancer on Sept. 29, 2020 at Coast Fork Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1948 to Fred and Alice Overton in Eugene, Ore. He graduated from Springfield High School. He was formerly married to Kathy, Diana, and was a partner to Denise Jones. He married Kim Cronin on May 12, 1984 in Creswell. They were joyfully married for 36 years.
David worked as a millworker, an ironworker, a machinist, a rural paper route carrier and a die-caster. He was a member of the Free Souls Motorcycle Club, but when he became a Jehovah Witness, he focused on teaching others about the Bible.
David had a worldwide brotherhood of friends who are Jehovah Witnesses, and many friends who are not. David became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1983, which changed his life completely. Serving Jehovah became his focus in life. He enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
He is survived by his son Mike Overton; daughter Susan Overton; wife Kim Overton; brother Tom Overton; sister Sue Stafford and brother-in-law Donald Stafford; grandchildren, cousins and many friends and relatives. David’s brothers, Steven and Ben, died.
A memorial service was held online due to the pandemic, and many attended from other areas.
