Albert ‘Al’ Rohrbach

Albert “Al” Rohrbach, 88, of Cottage Grove, Oregon, passed away August 3, 2020. Al was born January 17, 1932, in White Plains, New York, to parents Albert and Elsie (Crumm) Rohrbach. 

While attending San Bernardino Community College he met the love of his life in geology class. He married Erika Steinmann June 17, 1955, at Forest Lawn, Chapel of the Flowers. Al served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He worked Civil Service for the Air Force for 32 years in many places across the country.

Al enjoyed mountain rescue in the San Bernardino mountains, traveling, and camping. After retirement he took many trips around the world with his wife, and he was happiest on the water. Al was a true renaissance man; he did whatever was needed. He served as captain of the Power Squadron in Bradenton, Florida, for 2 years.

 He is survived by his wife Erika of 65 years; daughter Heide Johnson of Eugene, Oregon; daughter Linder (Becky Lorette) Rohrbach; son Eric (Donna) Rohrbach of Connecticut; and 1 granddaughter, Krista Johnson of Portland, Oregon. There will be no services per his request and instead of flowers please donate to the Humane Society of Cottage Grove at 33 N. 8th St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424 in his name. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.
