Obituaries & Tributes

Paul Birch

Paul Birch, affectionately known as “Bump,” passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 28, 2020 at home, with his wife, Patty, by his side.

Bump leaves behind his son, Justin, his “Little Buddy” and his cherished stepdaughters, Heather and Gillian. He leaves behind a big family who are heartbroken to live in a world without him. Bump’s family extended outside the walls of his home to include a community that will remain anonymous. He found his calling working within this fellowship. Anonymity was the foundation of his life.

Bump and Patty were that perfect example of opposites who attract. They were opposites in their idea of a fun night, and the same in how they loved one another. Bump was the carpenter and Patty the artist. They were one. Together, they built a home that was solid and strong and filled with joyful color, a place where Patty and her family feel surrounded by his love. Their love lives on.

Bump was a father, a father who would take on the big projects with his kids. He was the kind of father who wanted to show them what’s important in life. He left no doubts about the love he had for his son and daughters. There is so much Bump shared with his children and lots that made them all different. That’s what made them a beautiful family. Bump would work alongside all of his kids on those big projects, they would banter back and forth, always with love. Their hearts were connected. Their hearts will always be connected.

He was always excited for lively conversation, good and meaningful conversation. He was who you would seek for wisdom. He was who you would seek for a chat full of laughs. There wasn’t a time in the day that he wouldn’t share a cup of coffee with you. He was the kind of person who listened and knew what to say.

Bump was the kindest of men, tender and gentle. From a baby robin lost from her nest to the toughest of guys who were in need of some guidance, he was a caretaker to all.

Always with a guitar over his shoulder, Bump was the soundtrack to our lives. Always there, always attentive. He was our harmony.

And P.S. Keep coming back. It works!
