COTTAGE GROVE — The Grove’s got a new place to sip coffee and throw back a beer. Covered Bridge Brewing Group at 926 E. Main St. opened its doors for the first time Tuesday, June 16.

Coffee roaster and business partner David Barclay said staff was greeted by a customer just five minutes after turning on the “open for business” sign for the first time.

Locals Barclay, his wife, Liza, master brewer Nate Sampson and Chrissy Chapman have brought their collective vision together to bring locally crafted beer, coffee and house-made sodas and beverages to The Grove.

So far, business has been well-received, he said.

“My expectations about today have been met, and so much more,” said Barclay on Tuesday, as he tends to a group of socially-distanced customers. “Business has been outstanding, and the support from people is phenomenal. It is great to see people coming out to support us like this — and on a Tuesday,” he said.

Business hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, closed on Mondays. The Dipper and El Quetzal food trucks open at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
