CRESWELL – The temporary lapse of thai cuisine in Creswell has come to an end as Dak Thai Cuisine aims to open Tuesday, March 17 at 2 W. Oregon Ave.
The former Thai restaurant, Drumrongthai Café Spot, closed in October 2019. Owners Sumer and Ae Drumrongthai have since ventured to Eugene and plan to open a new Thai cuisine restaurant at the former Humble Bagel Company at 24th and Hilyard in Eugene, which is set to open in April.
They’re keeping the building in the family, and Ae’s niece and aunt have taken over the spot, rebranding it as Dak Thai Cuisine.
Venus Crofts and her mom, P Noi ”Annie,” moved from the Portland area, where Annie had a food cart named ”Let’s Eat Thai” for 11 years.
Annie used recipes handed down from family members, and is an excellent cook, Crofts said. She will be the chef, with curries and stir fries as her specialties. The Dak Thai menu will offer about 15 main dishes and a few appetizers.
Hours to start will be seven days a week from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and will then change in accordance to demand.
Panich and her family, mom P Noi ”Annie” and dad, Jesse, were in the restaurant on Monday, building a new bench to go against the wall, among other light renovations. They intend to keep a minimalistic design and expect all renovations will be completed by the end of the week.
