CRESWELL – After more than three decades with Creswell Middle School, principal Shirley Burrus will retire at the end of this year, she said.
Burrus said she told Creswell School District leaders at the end of September 2019 that she would be retiring, and her position was posted in February. She has spent 37 years with the CSD and 41 years in education field.
”I’ve had an incredible career due to this great community, school district, CMS staff and all of the students,” Burrus said. ”It was also a wonderful place to raise my own sons. I will miss the school community, but am looking forward to spending more time with family, especially my three grandchildren, and having the ability to travel more often.”
Creswell High School principal Adam Watkins announced his resignation in February.
”The candidate pools for both positions are robust, both in quantity and quality,” Superintendent Mike Johnson said. ”We are very pleased about the response that we have received from people who are interested in joining the Creswell District team and our great community.”
