CHS: WEEK IN REVIEW
BOYS BASKETBALL
Results
CHS 82 Chemawa 41
CHS 64 Harrisburg 33
The skinny: Creswell is on a four-game winning streak and undefeated in league. In a non-league game, Creswell not only doubled Chemawa’s points and rebounds but tripled the number of deflections, steals and recoveries collected. Big win? Big loss, too. After a season-high 9 points against Chemawa, junior Tyler Atwood sprained his ankle and will be out for two to three weeks. Next, at Harrisburg, Creswell had its best performance of the season behind the 3-point line, where Kai Apo went 5-for-7 in scoring 19 points, and Tyler Frieze was 4-for-7 from 3-point range and had a game-high 21 points.
Coach says: ”Tyler is our secondary big and the minutes he was giving us were really good. This will be a little bit of a setback for him but hopefully it will heal quickly,” Jesse Thomas said.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Results
CHS 40 Chemawa 47
CHS 30 Harrisburg 45
The skinny: Brea Dapron led CHS with two double-doubles last week. Dapron had 14 points and 17 rebounds against Chemawa and finished the week scoring 23 of Creswell’s 30 points with 11 rebounds against No. 3 Harrisburg. The Dawgs have lost five in a row.
Coach speaks: ”A lot of teams are underestimating us right now, but our losses haven’t been because we aren’t good enough. We started this thing in practice this week where you have to run if you say ‘I can’t’ or anything in that category, because they need to think they’ll win even if no one else does,” said Tyler Hollingsworth.

WRESTLING
The skinny: The Bulldogs participated at the Nick Lutz Invitational in Florence, hosted by Siuslaw HS. The Lady Dawgs placed 3rd out of the 22 teams, only 2.5 points behind 1st place Cottage Grove. Sierra Walter placed 2nd in the 115 and Kendyl Seiber took 2nd in the 135 while teammates Brielle Brick and Guinevere DeVare went head to head in the championship match for the 140 division. Brick won by fall over DeVare for 1st place. For the boys, CHS had two athletes contribute to its team score; Jurny Halvorson placed 4th at 126 and Josiah Lee took 6th at 142.
Coach speaks: ”The girls just dominated. Every single one of them looked like they belonged on that mat and like they deserved to win,” Mario Perez said.

CHEER
The skinny: CHS kicked off competition season at Roseburg HS, where they performed a partial routine in the 1/2/3A varsity division against 4 other squads. When senior Joseph Keller got sick last week, the Bulldogs were forced from varsity small co-ed division, where they would have been up against only two squads.
Coach speaks: ”It was a good first time for everyone to get experience on the mat. We’ll use it as a starting point to see what we need to work on and build from there,” Christine Bandey said.
