Ron Hanson has made a difference in the lives of those in our community.
Ron grew up in Montana and graduated from Colorado State. Ron and Sharon moved to Creswell in 1967. They were teachers and Ron decided he was interested in constriction so he worked with Jerry Polansky for a couple of years and then worked construction with the Kerr brothers, Keith and Vernon.
Ron and Sharon were active in the community. They joined the Creswell Presbyterian Church and were very active in many ways. Sharon taught Sunday School and served on committees, and Ron fixed anything that needed fixed for the church, served on session several times and also helped several in the community with projects. He was so appreciated, and everyone thought he was so smart that the city council appointed him the city administrator of Creswell. He held that position for 27 years from 1973 to 2000.
Ron also worked on several boards, including serving on the Community Bank of Creswell Board, Cottage Grove Hospital Board and the Creswell School Board. When he had a bit of time he joined Kiwanis and served the community by giving much time to Kiwanis projects.
Ron’s hobbies include fishing and traveling. He has visited England, Ireland, Germany and Hawaii several times and has taken cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera. Ron is also a good card player. When he plays pinochle everyone loves to have him as their partner because he is fun and a good player.
Ron is still working on building projects for the community. He is very well-respected and appreciated. We are so fortunate to have Ron in our community.
