Alfred Ray Schuck Feb. 3, 1932 – Oct. 18, 2019

Alfred Ray Schuck, 87, of Cottage Grove, Oregon, died Oct. 18, 2019.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1932 to parents Cecil Schuck and Gertrude Cart in Charleston, W. Va.
Ray completed his education by obtaining his GED at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. Ray married Helen Lillian Holmes on Oct. 21, 1952 in Charleston, and they were married for 66 years.
He served in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman during the Korean War. Ray enjoyed conversation, and never knew a stranger, often handing out strawberry candies. He and his friends would spend time at the local McDonald’s talking together and solving the world’s problems.
He is survived by his sons, Johnnie Ray Schuck of Cottage Grove and Allen Wayne Schuck of California; daughter, Alicia Annette Baber-Schuck of Cottage Grove; brothers John Schuck of Eugene, Pribble Schuck of Cottage Grove and Charles Schuck of Susanville, Calif.; sister Betty Lockheart of Eugene; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Schuck; brothers Eddie and Richard Schuck; and sisters Barbara Campbell and Garnet Harrison.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Delight Valley Church in the summer of 2020. Arrangements in the care of Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel.
