Fran Boehner
Fran Boehner, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Sept. 25, 2019 at the age of 91.
Fran was born on Oct. 22, 1927 in Oakland, California to Arthur and Alta (Thomas) Lobingier.
She received her bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education.
She raised three children with her first husband, John Bassett, but later divorced. She married Paul Boehner in 1979, and they lived in Cottage Grove until her passing.
Fran had a passion for education, and she was very active socially and politically; she was always championing the underdog and doing everything in her power to help those less fortunate than herself. She was a longtime member of the League of Women Voters, and devoted many years of her life to encouraging women and minorities to register and to vote.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, educator, activist, philanthropist and mentor, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul; her three children, Lyn, Jagat Joti and Nancy; and two grandchildren, Vanessa and Gabriel.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7th St., Cottage Grove, Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.
