Mini gas war pleases purchasers

A ‘mini gas price war” erupted mildly in Creswell late last week, drawing quiet cheers from observant gasoline purchasers and frowns from gas station operators.
Despite the price war, or perhaps because of it, major oil company stations in Creswell pumped lumber gallonage over the weekend, almost to the point of running dry by Sunday night.
Service station operators put in hasty calls for ”support” to their gas distributors as prices began to fall to levels of two years ago. Gas companies as a rule back station operators caught in price binds by offering subsidy to weather the crisis.
There was no indication Tuesday of how long the gas war would last, but by the same token there was no indication that operators were inclined to stop it immediately.
The only persons apparently happy with the situation were the consumers.
