It’s a party!

Back-to-school necessities, food and fun aplenty greeted families at Creswell’s 15th annual Party in the Park last weekend in Holt Park.
Within two hours, 290 of 320 free backpacks stuffed with school supplies were given to local K-12 students. The remainder, plus additional empty backpacks, will be donated to Creswell School District to be distributed to students as needed, said co-organizer Janet Greenough of Creswell Faith Center.
Additionally, about 50 kids received fresh new looks from stylists from local shops and co-organizer Alisha Charles offered free books and ”mom gifts,” such as nail polish, chocolate and tea. Local dentist Dr. Joseph Greenwood and staff made balloon animals, did face-painting and rub-on tattoos and supplied toothbrushes, while kids made beaded backpack charms and enjoyed free food.
”There are so many families that need a little extra help, and we are grateful to play a small part in starting their year out with a new backpack and some school supplies,” Greenough said. ”A community is able to do great acts of kindness when we come together with a common goal to love and bless the children of Creswell.”
