Springfield Notebook: Following interviews, the search continues

Following last week’s interview process, the City Council directed staff to continue recruiting efforts for the next city manager. The schedule is not yet set.
Springfield City Manager Gino Grimaldi retired effective June 30, 2018. The City of Springfield began its search for a new city manager in February 2019 using outside firm Strategic Government Resources to conduct the national recruitment effort.
A total of 42 candidates applied for the position and three were selected as finalists. In addition to the community engagement event held last week, finalists conducted interviews with City leadership and toured the City.
The city manager position is appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
