Dear Editor,
I would like to thank those who elected me to the Creswell Water Control District Board. I chose to become a candidate because I believe it is time for the district to assume a more active role in the community.
While our primary focus must continue to be flood control to protect life and property, the opportunity exists to evolve beyond that to enhance Hill Creek’s value to the community. We should strive to improve water quality, to stabilize the flow and extend it later into summer and to establish a robust riparian ecosystem throughout its length.
I am anxious to work with the other commissioners toward achieving these goals. I’m sure I’ll benefit from their wisdom and experience. I also hope the larger community will become more involved in the district’s activities. What the district does should reflect the needs of the community it serves. We can only do that if people articulate their wishes.
