Creswell track and field athlete Gauge Smith followed up his three-win performance at the Pleasant Hill Icebreaker on March 13 by winning both the events he participated in during the 23-team Wolfpack Small School Invite in Tualatin on March 21.
Smith, a junior, posted a season’s best time of 23.22a in the boys’ 200 meters and a PR of 51.72a in the 400 meters.
Hannah Bettis led the Creswell girls by winning the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 52.26a; she also placed seventh in the 100-meter high hurdles in 20.20a.
In other top-10 finishes for the Bulldog boys, Christian Tucker placed third in the 3000m in 10:01.19a; Nick Bronson placed second in both the 110m high hurdles in 16.64a and the 300m intermediate hurdles in 44.79a; Devin Johnson placed third in the 200m in 25.16a and sixth in the 100m in 12:30a; Grant Marshall placed third in the triple jump in 37-00 and seventh in 11:00.75a; and Cam Nguyen placed ninth in the 1500m in a PR of 4:44.57a.
In other top-10 finishes for the Creswell girls, Shelby Lamm placed third in the 200m in 28.71a and eighth in the 100m in 14.17a; and Kendyl Seiber placed fifth in the 100m hurdles in a PR of 20.00a and eighth in the shot put with a PR toss of 26-09.
”This was a great meet with lots of good competition,” said Creswell Head Coach Jonathan Ferguson. ”Our athletes keep improving and working hard as the weeks progress. We have a week off from competition (over spring break), which will give us some time to keep training and improving.”
