Education, Here to Help

Creswell schools seek more collaboration with area volunteers

Crystal Perdue

My name is Crystal Perdue and I am the Family Resource Coordinator for the Creswell School District.
I have been in this position for a little over a year now, and my role is short in description but HUGE in work: ”To support families within the community with parent-child activities, connecting families and children with resources/services, and to help build positive connections within the community.”
The end-goal to these duties is to create and/or maintain safe and stable families. I can’t fill the needs of our families without the support of resources, and I think having local resources to turn to can create a stronger community.
That’s where you come in!
I have had the pleasure of working with families in our district for over a year now and serving our community with the help and support of organizations like yours.
So many of you have called to offer up your time and services and I thank you all so very much. In fact, there have been so many giving people in our community that it has become difficult to keep track of who I’ve called upon for help and who I have overlooked.
It is a goal of mine to streamline the process of connecting the needs of our families with the resources available in our community. This will help me to allow all that want to help, the chance to do so and help make sure I am not overusing others.
I would love for us all to come together so I can share my thoughts on how I plan to do this and to confirm who in the community wants to be called upon from time to time. Your help makes good things happen to families with needs right here in Creswell!
Here are a few ”good things” that have happened because of your support:
• Holiday gifts and food to over 250 kids and their families
• Beds for a good night’s sleep and other household items
• Groceries
• Rides to doctor appointments
The needs at times are great but our little town of Creswell and our sense of community is greater. I would like to collaborate as a community to fill the needs that we can locally. We can build a stronger community and continue to make ”good things” happen.
If you would like to be a part of this system, I’d like to invite you to attend and participate in a brief meeting.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 2 6 p.m to 7 p.m.
WHERE: Creslane Elementary School Library
WHO: Anyone that would like to be on the resource list
Refreshments provided.
