Creswell School District will soon be on the hunt for a new superintendent for the 2019-20 school year.
CSD Superintendent Todd Hamilton announced March 7 that he will be leaving Creswell schools this July and become the new superintendent for Springfield Public Schools.
”Thank you for eight meaningful and productive years working with students, staff, parents and community members,” Hamilton wrote in a letter on the District’s website.
Hamilton has a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology and a master of arts degree in education from Pacific University. He came to Creswell schools eight years ago, following Superintendent Ruby Price’s resignation in February 2011. He was hired as the Creswell superintendent following a search conducted by designated search committee members Kathy Thompson, Lacey Risdal and Jacque Robertson, according to Chronicle archives.
From 2007-11, Hamilton was the director of student services and technology at South Lane School District and from 2004-07 he was the curriculum and staff development specialist. He’s also worked for Eugene and Hermiston schools.
”It has been a deep and satisfying pleasure to work with so many caring and compassionate educators and community members,” Hamilton wrote. ”Together, we have accomplished a substantial amount of meaningful work.”
Hamilton noted several accomplishments at CSD, including increasing the school’s ”overall academic achievement in reading and math” and a four-year district-wide cohort graduation rate for 2018 of 86.8 percent.
”We developed and expanded our early learning programs – Kids in Transition to Schools (KITS), Preschool Promise, and Family Resource Center – to support a successful transition to school for our youngest students,” he continued. ”We expanded our high school catalogue of college-level courses and career technical education (CTE) programs and partnered with Elevate Lane County to offer more real-world experiences and prepare our students for college, apprenticeship, career, and life.”
Hamilton also said the school addressed barriers like hunger, clothing, and basic needs.
”It has been a pleasure to be part of this progress,” Hamilton said. ”Thank you for the opportunity to serve the students of Creswell.”
Creswell School Board will meet in the coming weeks to plan for hiring a new superintendent for the District.
