Two wrestlers win state championships for Lowell

A pair of state individual champions helped Lowell place third behind Culver and Glide at the state 2A-1A wrestling tournament in Portland.
Syman Thurman, seeded third, won the 120 pound class while Kasey Erwin (132) earned his second straight state title.
Thurman opened with a 14-2 decision, won in the semis 11-0 with seven second round near fall points and a 9-3 win over a Bonanza opponent in the finals.
Erwin advanced with a 1:36 pin, 16-0 technical fall in the semis then a 4-1 win over Zeb Ramsden of Joseph/Wallowa in the finals.
Sebastian Garcia (160) placed third. Garcin opened with an 11-3 win, lost in the semis then rallied with a 15-4 decision and 3:11 pin.
Tyson Brasfeld (132) finished fourth, managing a pair of pins in 4:38 and 2:09.
Andrew Kintzley represented the Red Devils at 28 pounds.
