Eight Creswell wrestlers have earned district-level medals or ribbons for the 2018-19 season.
Medaling for the Bulldogs during the 3A Special District 2 Championships, held Feb. 16 at Pleasant Hill were Alex Metteer at 120 pounds and Rogelio Legorreta at 195 pounds. Metteer and Legorreta both placed second in their respective weight classes, earning not only district medals but bids to the OSAA 3A Wrestling State Championships.
During the Southern District girls’ state qualifier tournament at Thurston on Feb. 1 through 2, Creswell freshman Brielle Brick was awarded a ribbon after placing third at 138 pounds, just one spot away from a state berth.
Earning ribbons for placing in fourth in their weight classes during the Special District 2 Championships were Logan Johnson at 145 pounds, Nick Kubishta at 160 pounds, Josiah Lee at 126 pounds, Miguel Lopez at 120 pounds and Corbin Allison at 285 pounds.
”While we didn’t send as many kids through to state this year as we had hoped, I am proud of Alex and Rogelio for making it to state,” said Creswell Head Coach Wayne Roberts. ”I’m also really proud of Brielle’s performance – especially as a freshman – at the girls’ state qualifier, and all these guys for placing at districts.”
