Thank you, Creswell Public Works

Dear Editor,
Earlier this week, city public works plowed the streets in the Emerald Valley West neighborhood where I reside. As the driver started down our street I called my wife to the window and said, “It looks like we’re about to be sealed in!” We moved to Oregon in 1995 from Colorado where snowplowing our streets was a regular winter occurrence.
Every time, the driver simply plowed the street leaving a wall of snow across everyone’s driveway, even those driveways where people had worked diligently to clear them prior to street snow plowing! I was very pleasantly surprised to see the driver here carefully push the snow into the areas along the curb between the driveways. This certainly took extra time, but is well worth it to the residents.
I offer a sincere thank you to the city Public Works Department and to the very skilled driver who cleared our neighborhood streets for a job well done!
On another note, I went for a power walk around town yesterday, the first one since the snowstorm. I needed to use the portable restroom facility at Holt Park that was installed for the first time this season. I understand there are operational reasons for closing the permanent restroom during the winter months. I thank the city administration for the decision to install and maintain this facility and for plowing the area around the facility to give us easy access.
