Positions for Creswell School Board (CSB), South Lane County & Rescue (SLCF&R) and Lane Library District (LLB) are up for grabs. Election season is nearing, and filing deadline for the following local positions and terms is March 21, with the election to be held on Tuesday, May 21.
Four CSB positions are up for the May election.
Terms for Chair Tim Rogers, Vice-Chair Natalie Smathers and directors Kandice Lemhouse and Paul Randall will expire this May.
Chair Rogers said he plans to run again, while directors Smathers and Lemhouse are undecided. Director Randall did not respond by presstime.
Terms for directors Mike Anderson and Lacey Risdal will not expire until 2021.
Board members are elected from the district at large to serve four-year terms. Board elections occur in May of each odd numbered year.
To be eligible for election to the board, a person must be a registered voter in the school district, and have been a resident of the district for one year immediately preceding the election.
The term of office for board members begins on July 1 immediately following the election.
CSB meetings are typically held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at this District Office, 998 W. A St.
Two positions are also open for SLCF&R board.
Terms for Board President Mike Caven and Vice President Jennifer Radcliffe will expire. Those positions are four-year terms.
Both Radcliffe and Caven are running for their positions again this year, SLCF&R Administrative Assistant Leesa Martindale said.
Other board members include Joel Higdon, Dan Duffy and Thomas Munroe. Their terms will not expire until 2021.
SLCF&R Board meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at Station 1 in Cottage Grove as well as Station 3 in Creswell every third month.
There are two positions available on the LLB board.
The board consists of five elected members, Barbara Jenkins, Su Bowers, Erin Weatherly-Derminer, Shirley Griffith and Alejandra Garcia, according to the board’s website.
Terms for Bowers and Weatherly-Derminer expire.
Each candidate must file a declaration of candidacy or petition for nomination for office with Lane County Elections, 275 West 10th Ave., Eugene, no later than 5 p.m. on March 21.
