Lowell boys lose big to Monroe, 96-53

Lowell dropped a 96-53 Central Valley Conference basketball outing Saturday at Monroe despite a 12 point, 11 rebound effort from Mason Wendt and 11 points by Jason Stratis.
Lowell successfully worked the ball inside earlier and took a 13-12 lead as Wendt scored six points; however, the Dragons closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run to open a 23-15 lead.
The deficit grew to 36-17 before Bryce Pickett scored off the break for the first Red Devil field goal in the second period.
Lowell trailed 51-26 at the half and 82-42 after three quarters as the Dragons closed the period with 18 unanswered points.
Chandler Schnee and Carson Gardner connected on three point shots in the third period.
Gardner and Pickett finished with seven points apiece, Schnee five, A.J. Devereaux and Timmy Strats four each and Nicky Sotomayor three.
