Smith-Lund-Mills to host 31st Annual Holiday Memorial Dec. 2

The holiday season can be a very difficult time for many people. Those who have experienced the loss of a loved one have the extra burden of grief. In an effort to lighten this burden, Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel is extending an invitation to the community, to join us for our 31st Holiday Memorial Service, on Sunday, Dec. 2, starting at 2 p.m., at 123 S. 7 St., Cottage Grove. This special program is designed to give comfort and strength during the holiday season.
Everyone is welcome to this community-wide gathering: The program includes live music, readings, a memorial slideshow presentation and a candle lighting ceremony.
There will be a hosted reception with holiday treats and refreshments following the service.
The first Holiday Memorial service was held in Cottage Grove in 1987.  Doug Lund, former owner of Smith-Lund-Mills, had observed that the holiday season could be a challenging time for the members of our community who had experienced a loss in their lives. Lund was an early pioneer with the idea that people could benefit by coming together for strength and comfort during the holidays. Since 1987, the Holiday Memorial Service has become an annual tradition at Smith-Lund-Mills in Cottage Grove. Now in its 31st year, Marc Lund is proud to continue his father’s tradition of service to the community.
