Sophomore Brandon Moehlmann ran an impressive race during the 15th Annual Harrier Classic, held Oct. 6 at Bryant Park in Albany. Moehlmann set a PR as he paced the Bulldogs in the boys’ Frosh/Soph JV 5,000-meter race, placing 24th in a field of 262 runners with personal-best time of 18:45.05.
”Brandon showed up in a huge way, running in the 18s for the first time ever,” said Creswell Head Coach Jonathan Ferguson.
Moehlmann was one of four Bulldog cross country runners who participated at the junior varsity level during the large, competitive Harrier Classic.
”Logistics forced us to run in the early morning JV race, but it was like competing in a varsity race since there were close to 50 schools there from Oregon, Washington and California,” Ferguson noted.
Freshman Chance Hemenway also PR’d, placing 105th in 21:18.41, while freshman Gonzalo Cardenas finished in 38:04.72.
”Chance ran is second race in a row with a substantial improvement to his 5k time,” Ferguson said.
Senior Emily Garcia represented Creswell in the girls’ Junior/Senior JV 5k, finishing 90th out of 117 runners with a season’s-best time of 29:06.04.
Next up for the Bulldog harriers is the annual Country Fair Classic on Oct. 17.
”With every race, the future of our team looks brighter and brighter,” Ferguson said. ”I expect even bigger things when our whole team steps on the line (on Oct. 17) at our last regular-season race before districts.”
