VFW leaders adapt, finding new ways to vote, interact online

Bob Beck

The VFW has been unable to hold meetings at the direction of our higher HQ, so we have been doing a lot of emails and phone calls. I know several of us have taken it upon ourselves to increase our telephone checks of the older/housebound veterans. Our post and district elections are scheduled for this month and I am on the ballot for district commander; we are not sure when we will be able to do installation of new officers, though.

I am one of those at-risk 73-year-olds with asthma and I punctured a lung several years ago. I have been self-quarantined as much as possible. Alma has been shopping once a week to limit her exposure. We were planning to go to Hawaii in mid-May to celebrate our 46th anniversary, but we’ll see … At least we have a small farm, so I have plenty of things here to keep us busy.
