The kids were “back to school” this past Monday. Teachers have been reaching out to the students, and learning the Google Classroom platform. They are preparing new kinds of lesson plans and making interactive videos, etc.
Wow, this is something new for everyone. What a committed, talented team Creslane has.
The Creslane IRC reading program volunteers are looking for ways to help the students and teachers in this new environment. As such, I’ve been asking our volunteers if they wanted to “Zoom Connect” for a meeting.
Most of us have cell phones – and/or email and computer access. It could be a way to see each others’ faces – and get some up-to-date information. I have done several Zoom meetings – me, the flip chart queen – and found it is user friendly.
I had to learn Zoom in order to “see” Avery – my 2-year-old granddaughter. We now Zoom three times a week after breakfast.
The first time we did this, Avery took off all her clothes to show me her belly button. Then we “read” a book that both of us had, The Hungry Caterpillar. We sang a song and threw kisses at the end.
Next time we zoomed, I read her the book Over in the Meadow – a counting, animal book with a song.
I did a scavenger hunt at our house for a turtle, fish, owl, rat, frog, lizard, duck and a beaver. I struck out on the bee and crow (got pictures from the internet).
We have an attic full of years and years of old stuffed animals and other things. I sent these props home with my daughter, so Avery could sing and play along.
So you get the gist, even this old dog can learn new tricks.
