CRESWELL – Since 2017, a group of Creswell volunteers in Creswell Heritage Foundation have been fundraising to restore the century-old Old Schoolhouse and return it to public use. This year, the foundation replaced the front porch and foundation of the building. The next phase for 2020 is exterior restoration, which includes sidings, windows and trim on the old building. Last week, Weyerhaeuser Representative Brent Czaban dropped by the building at 195 S. 2nd St. to present the foundation with a $2,500 check to assist with exterior restoration project efforts. He said the character and the history of the Old Schoolhouse made it easy to grant to CHF. Czaban said Weyerhaeuser has many Cottage Grove employees, and it is important for Weyerhaeuser to give back to the community and support the Southern Willamette Valley cities. Last year, Czaban presented a $5,000 check to the Creswell Library to assist with its expansion project.
