nCascades Raptor Center’s Family Nature Discovery Day: Wildlife Play Hospital, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Recommended for kids ages 4-11; must be accompanied by an adult. Kids and their families can become wildlife rehabilitators for the day. Participants receive a report of an injured stuffed animal on the Raptor Center’s wooded, hillside property. After rescuing their animal, kids can bring it to the wildlife hospital play area for treatment. While the rescued animal heals, families can visit with the dozens of permanent raptors at the Center. When the stuffed patients have recovered, participants can release them back into the wild. Cost is general admission plus $2 activity charge. Fee waived if you ride your bike or hike the Ridgeline Trail to the Center, 32275 Fox Hollow Road, Eugene. Sponsored by KVAL and Springfield Utility Board (SUB).

TUESDAY, AUG. 6

• National Night Out. 5 to 8 p.m. at Holt Park. An annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. A great opportunity to bring police, fire and neighborhoods together under positive circumstances. Free food provided by Sanipac, inflatable slide, dunk tank, games/activities, music, neighborhood safety tips, sheriff and fire vehicles, K9 demonstrations on the hour, Neighborhood Watch info. Bring a canned good to support Creswell Food Pantry! • Community Health needs Assessment feedback session. Review information collected through Lane County’s 2018-19 regional Community Health Needs Assessment, 4-6 p.m. at Cottage Grove Community Center, 700 E. GIbbs.

THURSDAY, AUG. 8 - SUNDAY, AUG. 11

• Junction City Scandinavian Festival. Thursday is Norwegian Day, Friday is Swedish Day, Saturday is Danish Day and Sunday is Finnish Day. Three entertainment will include choral and instrumental groups, folk dancers and informational presentations. Unusual handicrafts of Scandinavian culture such as Hardanger Embroidery, bobbin lace and Rosemaling. Vendors sell handcrafted paintings, woodcrafts, jewelry and more.

SATURDAY, AUG. 10

• Party in the Park, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Harry Holt Memorial Park. Free. Giving out free backpacks and school supplies to school-age children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There will also be fun activities and food. More info: Janet Greenough, 541-735-0806.

• The Area Model-T Club of Cottage Grove will be visiting Creswell in their vintage cars. The group is touring covered bridges in the Grove, then heading for lunch at Creswell Bakery and a tour of the Creswell Museum. The museum will open at 10:30 a.m. The vintage cars are available for public viewing during their time in Creswell and will be parked at the Presbyterian Church during the museum visit.
