Spanish Journey

Embark on a vibrant musical journey as we explore the rich colors, rhythms, and lyricism of Spanish-inspired chamber music.

This program revisits audience favorites from our 2022 Spanish concert, when listeners were captivated by the expressive voice of composer Enrique Granados. This year, we continue that journey with his rarely heard Piano Quintet in G Minor, paired with music by fellow Spanish composers Joaquín Turina and Isaac Albéniz.

We’ll also honor Amici’s founding Artistic Director Sharon Schuman with a performance of one of her favorite works—Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Two Violins, a piece she cherished and programmed throughout Amici’s early seasons.

Joining us for this celebration of sound and spirit:
Juan Luis, violin (guest artist from Spain)
Eric Alterman, cello (Delgani String Quartet)
Core Musicians: Eunhye Grace Choi, piano; Tomás Cotik, violin; Lillie Manis, viola

Program

• Turina – Piano Trio No. 2, Op. 76
• Prokofiev – Sonata for Two Violins in C Major, Op. 56
• Albéniz – “Cádiz” & “Asturias” from Suite Española, Op. 47 (arr. for string quartet)
