Celebrating the Legacy of Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens
Cottage Grove, OR — February 6, 2026 | Doors 7:00 PM | Show 8:00 PM | Axe & Fiddle
Tickets: $10 presale
Acclaimed performer Joshua Josué brings his annual tribute concert honoring Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly to Axe & Fiddle in Cottage Grove for an unforgettable night of timeless rock ’n’ roll.
This year’s performance also celebrates the album release of Broadcast to the Surf Ballroom — a remarkable project in which Joshua completes several unfinished songs left behind by Valens and Holly, respectfully reimagined and recorded for modern audiences.
“I don’t try to be Buddy Holly and I don’t try to be Ritchie Valens,” Josué shared from his Portland home. “I try to represent their music the best I can. I don’t want to make a caricature of Buddy Holly or Ritchie Valens; the world lost them. I just do my best to sing their songs the way they were intended to be sung.”
A Celebration of 67 Years Since “The Day the Music Died”
On February 6, audiences at Axe & Fiddle will experience Joshua’s heartfelt tribute firsthand. Backed by his talented band, he brings the energy and emotion of the 1950s rock ’n’ roll era to life with classic hits from Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper.
From the electrifying rhythms of “La Bamba” and “That’ll Be the Day” to the tenderness of “Donna,” the night promises a captivating journey through the golden age of rock ’n’ roll.
Joshua also shines a spotlight on the deeper cuts of Valens’ catalog — including “Ritchie’s Blues” and “Malagueña” — celebrating the depth, creativity, and cultural influence of Chicano music history.
And for Buddy Holly fans, Joshua revives early rockabilly gems such as “Blue Days,” “Rock Around with Ollie Vee,” and “Midnight Shift,” capturing the youthful fire that defined Holly’s early sound.
More Than a Tribute — A Cultural Celebration
This event is more than a concert; it’s a celebration of rock ’n’ roll history and Chicano heritage. Through Joshua’s soulful performances, he not only honors two musical pioneers but also carries their influence forward, weaving their legacy into the modern tapestry of American music.
